Role – Executive Producer/Creator

Background

With a pool of alumni boasting some of the biggest names in fashion, RMIT’s School of Fashion and Textiles is one of the highest ranked in the world. As a result, it doesn’t require any marketing for new applicants, but it’s role in bolstering the brand reputation of RMIT is significant.

Idea

Seizing on this opportunity, I led our in-house creative team at RMIT in creating a 35-minute documentary following three of our fashion graduates as they prepared to unveil their collections at the National Graduate Showcase at Melbourne Fashion Festival.

We launched the documentary with a screening and invited career advisors and principals from key ‘feeder’ high schools to promote the course, alongside some of our fashion industry partners like Nike, Country Road, the Fashion Journal and Melbourne Fashion Festival. We also extended the invitation to some of our fashion alumni and influencers, who helped promote the screening and documentary via their own social media channels.

The screening included a display of the graduatesʼ work, where we hired RMIT production students to light the space, photography students to shoot the event and sound production students to DJ throughout the networking portion of the evening. Tears flowed as everyone in the room witnessed the talent and hard work of the graduates unfold on the big screen.

Impact

The documentarys average watch time was a staggering 3547% higher than that of the average video we host on YouTube, indicating a genuine engagement from our audiences with the content. We also experienced a 32% YoY increase in visits to our Fashion landing page and an 11% YoY increase of time users spent on the same page.
