Background
Despite being one of the most highly ranked creative arts universities, RMIT’s marketing team was not utilizing the student body in any way.
Idea
In 2021, I kicked off The Academy – a program involving a variety of ways for RMIT students to work for the university’s marketing team. This would provide the benefit of extra hands for the marketing team, as well as having creatives who were much closer to our prospective student demographic working on these projects. The students would receive work experience in a professional environment, including working with external agencies and having their work commissioned in market.
In the first year of The Academy, we brought on students from a wide range of disciplines – photographers, lighting production, graphic designers, artists and DJs.
